Food for Thought: Eli Pariser's TED Talk on Online "Filter Bubbles"

On one hand, I'm a huge advocate for instant personalization. Especially from a marketing perspective. There exists vast potential for brands to make their content, products and services far more relevant to the end consumer by incorporating influence from an individual's social graph. However, the thought of passively getting fed content that already reaffirms your worldview is a bit frightening. To help counteract this, I make sure to check my "Most Recent" news feed on Facebook to see what people I don't interact with frequently are sharing, and I follow a plethora of people on Twitter who expose me to topics and news that I might not discover otherwise. Maybe I should start Googling when I'm not logged in, too.

How are you ensuring you get exposed to content and ideas that challenge you?
